Slammer Marine
The Slammer Marine Standard line carries the original tear-shape 9-inch by 6-inch profile sized for mid-size to large recreational vessels, marina slips, and high-traffic fuel docks. Standard dock fenders are the flagship of the Slammer system and the right answer for most residential and commercial dock installations. Both straight and corner versions interlock through the same modular mounting track, with covers and foam cores that can be replaced individually as they wear.
The Standard Fender was the original Slammer product and remains the most widely installed fender in the lineup. Several Standard installations from 2011 and 2012, dating back to the brand’s earlier Storm Fender name, are still in service on the same docks today, on original tracks and many on original foam cores. The 9-inch by 6-inch tear-shape profile is the result of years of field testing and is sized to absorb impact across the range of recreational and small commercial vessels that account for the majority of marine docking traffic.
The tear-shape itself does two structural jobs at once. The wider upper portion catches higher-freeboard hulls. The narrower lower portion sits below the typical waterline contact zone so low-freeboard vessels cannot slip under the fender. Between those two extremes, the curved face distributes impact energy laterally so neither the boat nor the dock takes a concentrated point load.
The Standard line ships in two configurations that share every internal component. The straight version mounts horizontally along the face of a dock. The corner version mitres to wrap a 90-degree dock intersection. Both use the same 2-pound XLPE closed-cell foam core, the same 30-ounce PVC-coated marine fabric cover, and the same polymer mounting track with stainless steel hardware. Foam and cover replacements are interchangeable between the straight and corner products within the Standard line, which means stocking spares for a mixed installation is straightforward.
The corner version is available in Left, Right, and Inside Corner configurations. Custom angles other than 90 degrees can be manufactured for non-standard dock geometries. For corner-specific details, see the corner dock fenders category.
The choice between the Standard and Small lines is a function of boat size, dock traffic, and dock geometry. The Standard is the right answer when any of the following applies:
For lighter watercraft, sailing programs, dinghy docks, and tighter dock configurations, the Small Fenders category carries the compact 5-inch by 3-inch profile. Many docks use both lines, with Standard fenders on the main slip and Small fenders on a dinghy dock or sailing program tender area.
The Standard line uses the universal Slammer component system. When a cover fades or a foam core compresses, the worn part is sold separately and the rest of the fender stays in service. All Standard-compatible replacement parts are available at dock fender components.
