Dock Fender Tracks and Mounting Hardware

Slammer Marine dock fender tracks are the polymer mounting rails that attach the fender to the dock. The track installs once and stays there for the lifetime of the dock. The foam-and-cover assembly slides into the track and can be removed for service, winter storage, or component replacement without disturbing the track itself. Tracks are pre-drilled and ship with stainless steel deck screws. HDPE polymer is standard; aluminum is available for premium installations.

The Track Is the Permanent Part of a Slammer Fender System

A Slammer Marine dock fender has three parts. The foam core absorbs impact and gets replaced every 8 to 10 years. The cover takes the surface wear and gets replaced every 5 to 7 years. The mounting track is the part that does not get replaced. The track screws to the dock once, the fender assembly slides into the track, and the track stays in place for the lifetime of the dock. Decade-old Slammer installations from 2011 and 2012 are still running on their original tracks today.

The track does two structural jobs at once. It anchors the fender to the dock so the fender does not move out of position. It also creates a sliding channel so the foam-and-cover assembly can be removed when needed without removing the entire installation. That is the difference between a Slammer fender and a bolted-on D-fender or foam bumper: the Slammer fender can be serviced. The bolted-on alternatives cannot.

Track Specifications

40-Inch HDPE Polymer Track with Hardware

The standard polymer mounting track for the horizontal fender line. HDPE (high-density polyethylene) extrusion measures ½ inch by 3⅝ inch by 40 inches. Three pairs of pre-drilled, countersunk holes accept six stainless steel deck screws (two at each end, two in the center). Universal fit for the Standard, Small, Fleece, and Corner Fender product lines. Compatible with wood, composite, aluminum, and concrete dock faces. Lifetime track warranty. Hardware included.

Piling Track

The heavier polymer track sized for the Piling Fender line. Five center-lined countersunk holes accept hex-head lag bolts for the higher loads that vertical applications see. Installs on wood, composite, and aluminum pilings. The Piling Track is not interchangeable with the horizontal 40-inch track. Sold at $65.

Standard Aluminum Track (new, pipeline)

A marine-grade aluminum mounting track is in development for installations where corrosion resistance matters more than cost. Sold in pairs (1 inch by ½ inch by 40 inch each), the nested aluminum tracks anodized for corrosion resistance. Pre-drilled for stainless steel fasteners. Ships with a spacing tool to ensure precise alignment between paired tracks. Available for the Standard, Small, Fleece, and Corner lines once released.

Installation Basics

The track installs with basic tools: a drill, a level, and a hand saw if a custom length is needed. Mark the desired height of the fender on the dock face. Hold the track in position with a level. Drill pilot holes through the pre-drilled track holes into the dock. Drive the stainless steel deck screws. Move to the next 40-inch section and repeat. For corner sections, the corner track ships pre-cut. For custom lengths, the polymer extrusion can be cut with a standard hand saw or chop saw.
