Slammer Marine

Dock Fender Parts and Replacement Components

Slammer Marine dock fender parts are designed so a worn component can be replaced without buying a new fender. The modular three-part system splits the fender into a foam core, a fabric cover, and a polymer mounting track, each sold individually. Replace a faded PVC cover, swap a compressed foam core, or extend an existing track run. Every part fits the Standard, Small, Fleece, Corner, and Piling Fender lines it was built for. Shipped from the USA.

How the Slammer Modular Parts System Works

Most marine fenders are throwaway products. A traditional inflatable fender that deflates gets cut off the boat and tossed in a dumpster. A vinyl D-fender that splits at the seam goes the same way. The cost of replacement is built into the product because it is engineered as a single unit with no field-serviceable parts.

Slammer Marine dock fenders are built differently. Every fender splits into three independent components. The polymer mounting track screws to the dock and stays there for the lifetime of the dock. The foam core slides into a sleeve and absorbs the impact load. The fabric cover wraps the foam and takes the surface wear. When the cover fades or tears, the cover is replaced. When the foam compresses or waterlogs (typically 8 to 10 years out), the foam is replaced. The track usually never needs replacement at all. A worn fender becomes a $60 foam swap or a cover refresh instead of a new fender purchase.

This is what the “fender-to-fender” warranty actually covers in practice. Slammer Marine repairs or replaces the worn component, not the entire fender. The customer keeps the rest of the system.

When to Replace Each Component

Component Typical Service Life Common Replacement Trigger
Mounting track Lifetime Almost never replaced. Damaged sections only.
Foam core 8–10 years Compression set, waterlogging (rare), shape distortion
PVC cover 5–7 years UV fade, abrasion wear, surface tears
Polartec fleece cover 2–3 seasons UV fade (faster than PVC). 1-year warranty.

These are field averages. Heavy commercial use shortens the timelines. Light residential use can extend them well beyond. Slammer Marine field installations from 2011 and 2012 are still in service with original components.

Three Component Lines

Foam Cores

The closed-cell XLPE foam core is the impact-absorbing center of every Slammer fender. Two densities cover the full product line. The 2-pound density fits the Standard, Small, and Fleece Fender lines (both horizontal and corner versions). The 3-pound density fits the Piling Fender line, where heavier vertical loads require denser foam. There is also a low-profile 2-pound foam for situations where a thinner foam is needed in an existing track. All foam cores are sold per 40-inch section. Dock Fender Tracks

The polymer mounting track is the part of the system that screws to the dock. The standard 40-inch track fits the Standard, Small, Fleece, and Corner Fender lines. The Piling Track is a heavier extrusion sized for vertical applications. Both ship with stainless steel deck screws. Aluminum track is also available for marine environments where corrosion resistance matters more than weight or cost. See the dock fender tracks collection.

Fender Covers

The PVC-coated marine fabric cover is the wear part of the system. Covers are sold individually so a faded or torn cover can be replaced without touching the foam or track. The Polartec fleece cover is also sold individually for the Fleece Fender line, including the 80-inch and corner variants. All covers ship in 40-inch, 80-inch, and 120-inch standard lengths in the same six color options as the original fenders. See the dock fender covers collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The polymer track is proprietary to Slammer Marine and is sized specifically for Slammer foam cores and covers. Parts from other dock fender manufacturers will not fit the Slammer track, and Slammer parts will not fit other manufacturers’ tracks. Mixing components voids the warranty.

Yes. The cover-and-foam assembly slides out of the polymer track as one piece. Once removed, the foam slides out of the cover sleeve. The new cover slides over the foam. The reassembled unit slides back into the track. Most customers complete a single cover swap in under 15 minutes.

All Slammer Marine components, foam cores, mounting tracks, and PVC and fleece covers, are manufactured in the United States. The 30-ounce PVC-coated marine fabric, the Polartec fleece, the XLPE foam, and the polymer extrusions are all USA-sourced.

Yes. The 4-year private and 2-year commercial warranty covers the entire fender system. If a foam core fails inside the warranty window, Slammer Marine ships a replacement foam core. If a PVC cover fails inside the warranty window, Slammer ships a replacement cover. The customer keeps the working components and replaces only the failed one. Photo documentation of the failure is required to start a warranty claim.
